Blackberry REMOVAL

Blackberry Control in New Zealand

This is a basic text element.

We specialise in vegetation and land clearing (primarily using high-performance machinery) including:

  • Large-scale gorse and blackberry clearing — no job is too big

  • Gorse and scrub mulching

  • Blackberry mulching — clearing thick, overgrown blackberry infestations efficiently

  • Overgrown grass cutting — even grass too long for regular mowers, including on steep or difficult slopes

  • Track and access clearing

  • Firebreak and boundary clearing

  • Vegetation control under powerlines and fences

  • Steep-slope and difficult terrain management

We operate a remote-controlled LV600 Green Climber – a high-performance mulcher ideal for steep, uneven, and sensitive terrain. It safely handles blackberry, thick scrub, gorse, broom, and long grass where conventional mowers can’t go.

We’re based in the Wellington region and regularly work throughout:

  • Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Porirua, Kapiti Coast

  • Wairarapa, Horowhenua, Manawatū

  • Up to Palmerston North, Whanganui, and Taupō by arrangement

If you’re outside these areas, please get in touch — we’re happy to discuss travel options for larger projects.

Both can be cleared year-round, but the best time is during active growth (spring/summer) if follow-up spraying is planned. We can advise the ideal timing for long-term results.

Yes. Gorse and blackberry are highly flammable. Mulching reduces fire risk by removing dense fuel loads and opening up access for firebreaks or control lines.

No – mulching doesn’t spread viable seeds of gorse, blackberry, or other weeds. By cutting and shredding mature plants, it destroys most seeds in flowers or pods. The main risk of regrowth comes from the existing seed bank already in the soil, which is why follow-up spraying or replanting is essential.

Yes – mulching must be paired with herbicide or replanting to prevent regrowth. We recommend spraying treated areas within weeks of mulching for best results. We can work with your spray contractor or suggest one.

Yes. Our low-impact mulching method is suitable near riparian zones, wetlands, and bush edges. We always prioritise environmental sensitivity and follow best-practice guidelines.

Yes – we’re experienced in large-scale projects and regularly work with government departments and utility providers. We’re already a registered contractor with the Department of Conservation (DOC) and are well-suited for subcontracting work (e.g., under Transpower or regional councils).
